The Australian Constitution empowers the Australian government to disqualify persons as Australian citizens on the basis of race.
Historically, Aborigines suffered most from the exercise of this race power.
Foreign governments establish embassies to, among other things, to protect the interests of their expatriate citizens.
The Aboriginal Tent Embassy is a reminder of the history of non-citizenship of Aboriigines and as a warning that Aboriginal citizenship can be removed by legislation.
When these constitutional race powers are removed I will advocate that Aborigines cease to support an Enbassy to represent their interests.
